Cyril Baillie topped the 27-boat IRC Class C at the Voiles de Saint Tropez. Winning this competitive class by four points after five races earned his new Beneteau First 40 SAYANN-MADRACO (above) first overall in IRC as well. Cyril Baillie had to steer his boat past a sharp fleet that included a pack of Archambault 40RCs. Sporting UK-Halsey Titanium sails, SAYANN-MADRACO won three out of the five races.
At the award ceremony, Cyril said, This was a great victory. Because their throwout was worse than ours, we were tied with the A40RC GERANIUM KILLER going into the last race. In the final tie-breaking race we were first and GERANIUM KILLER finished fourth. Another A40RC GLEN ELLEN, was second, just 17 seconds behind. That one race made a close series look like a rout. Winning the overall IRC trophy was the icing on the cake. Congratulations to my team and specially to UK-Halsey Titanium sails, which made the difference.
