SIRENSONG leading a tight pack in the IRC 45 class at the American Fall Series.
In October, the final two regattas of the 2010 season on Long Island Sound were sailed. Both American and Manhasset Bay yacht clubs ran two-weekend events, which drew strong fleets.
UK-Halsey customers made off with most of the major awards at the American Yacht Club Fall series. Tom Carrolls J/133 SIRENSONG took the Roger Sherman award for the best combined performance in both the AYC Spring and Fall series and Adam Loorys Express 37 SOULMATES won the IRC 35 division as well as the award for best IRC boat of the fall regatta. After 10 races, SOULMATES finished with 13 points in the 12-boat class. Rick Lyalls J/109 STORM was third in the IRC 35 class, while the weekend before STORM won the Long Island Sound IRC Championship. In the J/105 one-design class at the AYC Fall Series, UK-Halsey customers finished 1,2,3,4,5,6 with Joerg Esdorns KINSCEM taking the win.
The J/122 one-design class held its Long Island Sound Championship during the second weekend of the AYC Fall Series and Andrew Weisss CHRISTOPHER DRAGON won by six-points over the next boat in the six-boat fleet. That was DRAGONs third regatta win in a row this fall, starting with the IRC Long Island Sound Championships where DRAGON not only won her division, but also won boat of the regatta.
All these boats have full UK-Halsey inventories that include UKs latest string sail technology.
At the Manhasset Bay Fall Series, SOULMATES was once again first in the IRC 35 class, after a knock-down battle with two other UK-Halsey powered boats -- Richard du Moulins modified Express 37 LORA ANN and Jack Forehands J/109 STRATEGORY. SOULMATES and LORA ANN were tied going into the last race, making that race a winner-take-all event in the seven-race series. SOULMATES won the race and the series by one point over LORA ANN. In PHRF 1, two podium positions went to women skippers with UK-powered boats. Iris Vogels Soverel 33 DEVIATION won and the Tripp 33 PATIENCE driven by Jenna Ferreiri was third. PATIENCE was crewed by students from the Webb Institute sailing team and the boats owner Rick Royce, a naval architecture professor at Webb, sailed as the coach.
In the J/105s, perennial favorites Damian Emerys ECLIPSE and Joeg Esdorns KINSCEM fought it out. This time it was no contest, ECLIPSE beat KINSCEM by nine points after seven races. Third went another UK-Halsey customer, Dr. Josh Burack sailing PEREGRINA
