Ken and Sue Sutton run a sales and service facility in North Sutton, New Hampshire. Because Ken does not have the responsibilities associated with running a full service loft, he can direct his attention to his customers whenever they need him. Most of the time his answer to a customer who is in need of service is, "How about tomorrow?"
UKHNH is centrally located to all markets: two hours to Lake George, NY; two hours to Lake Champlain in Burlington, VT; two hours to Portland, ME and one hour to Portsmouth, NH. His monthly trips to Mount Desert Island, ME includes many stops to see customers, boat dealers and manufacturers.
Ken began his career in the sailmaking industry in 1969 at Ulmer Sails on City Island, New York. After 14 years, Ken left Ulmer Sails so he and his wife, Sue, could relocate to North Sutton, New Hampshire.
After settling in the beautiful mountains, North Sails approached Ken to cultivate the markets of New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and the Eastern Lakes Region of New York State. For 15 years, Ken traveled these territories developing a vast customer base and many cherished friendships.
In September of 1996, Butch Ulmer called Ken to discuss the possibility of Ken rejoining the now UK-Halsey Sailmakers, and he finally came on board in February of 1997. Since rejoining UK Sails, Ken has thoroughly enjoyed returning to an important policy which he felt had been lacking for the past 15 years -- that continued support and constant communication is vital in this industry for both the sailmaker and the customer.
