In addition to our own staff, being part of the UK network allows us to access sailing and sailmaking experience circling the globe!

UK Sailmakers Tampa is run by Tom Barry who brings 20 years of sailmaking experience and over 30 years of sailing experience. He will combine these skills and experiences to provide his customers with the best sails for their unique situations. He will carefully consider their boats, their type of sailing, as well as their budgets.
Tom first began sailing on his father’s 8-meter at the age of three. At the age of 16 he was hired as a sailmaker with Hood Sails in Clearwater; he continued working summers and breaks through out high school and college at various area sail lofts.
Tom’s racing experience extends from Optis to Formula 40 catamarans to 70-foot sleds. His offshore experience includes six SORCs, 10 Key West Race Weeks and the St. Pete-Havana Race. Few people have done the 14 Clearwater/Key West races that Tom has. Tom’s National level competition includes J-22s, J-24s, J-35s, San Juan 21s, Stars and Thistles. He has been involved locally in many successful MORC and PHRF projects.
When Tom isn’t on the water, he can be found in the air; he's a avid pilot . After all, who would be better to design your sails than someone who understands aerodynamics as a pilot does.
