UK-Halsey Melbourne is based in the bayside city of Brighton, close to all the yachting facilities. Our loft has been the most successful sailmaking company in Victoria, winning nearly every major keelboat yacht race in the I.M.S. and Performance class yachts.
After completing my Sailmaking apprenticeship in the mid 70's at the respected Keely Sails, l moved to North Sails where l became production manager until l left to start Gale and Rimington sailmakers in 1983. This loft gained a reputation for excellent one design sails winning numerous State and National Championships, also 2 OK Dinghy world champs, 2 Flying Fifteen world titles, and Etchell National Champs.
With a growing demand for keel boat sails l saw the need to join a group and purchased Halsey Lidgard Melbourne in 2000 and then merging with the strong UK Sailmakers group in 2005.
Our main focus now is on the cruiser racer market making sails for world cruising. Gaff riggers to the latest canting keel speedsters.
We believe the merger with the UK group will allow us to offer our
customers a wide range of products to suit all needs.
