UK-Halsey Boats Take 1st, 2nd and 5th In the One Stage of the Tour de France

Just like its cycling namesake, the Tour de Francep la Voile is a long grueling month-long event made up of offshore distance races and buoy races all in one-design Mumm 30s. In the recently completed 107-mile race from Douarnenez to Vannes along the southern coast of Brittany, three boats with UK-Halsey sails finished in the top five of the 30-boat fleet. First was ALFA LAVAL, an English team in the student class, second was ALPES-MARITIMES-THEOULE-MANDELIEU in the professional class, and PERPIGNAN-MEDITERRANEE was fifth in the amateur class.
ALPES-MARITIMES-THEOULE-MANDELIEU is skippered by UK Frances Sylvain Chtounder; several of the lofts staff have been aboard at one time or another. The boat is currently in fourth place with half of the regatta yet to be sailed. The Tour de France started in Dunkerque on the Belgian border on July 2nd and finishes in the town of Menton on the Italian border on July 30th. Stay tuned for more results and pictures.
