J/120 East Coast Championship

Stamford, Connecticut, USA Bob Monro and his crew on BYE BYE BLUES won the J/120 East Coast Championship following up their win at the J/120 North Americans last year. On the light-air first day, Monro had three thirds in the eight-boat fleet. But when the wind picked up to 8-12 for the final day, BYE BYE BLUES with her UK inventory dominated the fleet and took both races. Even though the fleet was down in size, racing was tight; four different boats won a races. Monro was the only one to win two races and the second first was extremely important since thats what broke the final tie his favor, raising BYE BYE BLUES above SUNDAY DRIVER to win the regatta. Monro said, In the medium breeze we sailed much higher and faster than everyone else.
