Sails designed and built by UK-Halsey powered the first-place winner in the Mexican J/24 Nationals. Fifteen very competitive boats came to Acapulco for the three-day seven-race shoot out. The winds were light to medium -- 4 to 10 knots. Crews delt with an ocean swell and very hot, tropical weather, that is typical.
Yokin Belausteguigoitia sailed GOOD VIBE to the podium, finishing with 17 points; second was Joaquin Bargallos TENAZ and third was Ralph Nelles CERO BARO. Racing was no walk-over; Chris Snow from North Sails San Diego sailed on CERO BARO. Yokin and his team did a fantastic job in their first regatta using our latest designs, said Luis Gianotti of UK-Halsey San Diego. They were very pleased with the speed of the sails. There is a great deal of interest in J/24''s because the 2007 Worlds will be sailed in Acapulco.
UK San Diego have been working with the J/24 class sail designs for more than a year; last December we did an extensive two-boat testing in San Diego that work allow Luis to develop his latest designs for the class.
