Another attribute of Mal� boats is that they are sturdy enough to cross oceans, but are still capable of a good turn of speed. To get the most speed out of the boat�s convenient roller-furling mast, Mal� specified UK-Halsey�s VB Max Roach main, which is a roller-furling main with a full cruising roach supported by vertical battens. Most mains that roll into the mast are batten-less and have negative roach, which makes them perform terribly. Any boat with an in mast furler can benefit from upgrading to the VB MaxRoach main.
