"The
performance of our sails in the US is the best. I won 2002 Key West Race
Week with 4 firsts in 6 races. At the Annapolis Nood Regatta we had 2
firsts in 4 races and won the regatta easily. At Newport Gold regatta
we had 5 firsts in 5 races. Last year we sailed a total of 56 races, and
we had 28 firsts. This includes 4 firsts in 7 races at the worlds."

Main We are currently using contenders polycoat for this sail. The whole sail is built out of a stiff type dacron. The luff curve and broadseaming have been optimized for the best speed possible. We make the sail with radial patches for light weight corner patches that are very strong. Other Sailmakers do not do this. We also make the main with a full length top batten for durability. The sail has two windows, a collision window and spreader window. Both are in exactly the right location. Jib Our sail is a Pentex tape drive sail, It uses Pentex 20 tapes. The sail comes complete with a collision window, radial patches, and vertical battens in the leech. We have worked extensively on the placement of the collision window for maximum benefit and sight. The draft stripes are located so that when you look through the spreader window in the main, you can tell how hard you are sheeting the jib in relationship to the lower spreader. The vertical battens work well in the leech and roll up easy when furling. The jib is maximum size and has a perfect clew height. Spinnaker First off we use Airx 600 for our spinnaker. This material is very strong and can hold up to the hard demands of racing on a J/80. It is far superior to any other fabric for weight to strength. Our design has been refined and worked on over the years. The midgirth measurement has been expanded while the foot has been shortened to turn out a maximum projected sail. Overall we have been the fastest boat down wind in the USA. |
