*The 1998 event featured 14 evenly matched J-105's and 15 competitive sailing "masters." Skippers rotated among the 15 boats to neutralize any difference in boats, but the difference in sails cannot be ignored. Only two boats of the 15 carried UK sails and when the regatta was scored by boat, the UK boats finished 1st and 3rd. Everything else being equal, sails can make all the difference.
