UK-Halsey Wins Two Divisions of US IRC Nationals

The US IRC National Championship was sailed as part of the second half of the New York Yacht Club’s seventh biennial Race Week at Newport presented by Rolex and UK-Halsey customers won two of the five classes.

2010 Edlu Race
Tom Carroll’s J/133 crashing her way to a first-place finish in the 2010 Edlu Race in New York’s Long Island Sound. The first half of the race was sailed in light air run followed by a 30-35 knot beat home. Gusts to 45 knots were encountered by many boats and at least two boats finished with storm sails set.

GETTING A NEW BOAT FOR THE COST OF A NEW SET OF SAILS
    Cruising yachtsmen from around the world gather in George Town, Exumas in the Bahamas each winter for months of fun in the sun escaping the winter cold. COLLEGE OFFSHORE REGATTA SPECTACULAR
UK-Halsey was a proud sponsor of the Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta run by the Storm Trysail Foundation and Larchmont Yacht Club in early October. STORM AND MOTHER NATURE BLOW THROUGH THE J/109 NORTH AMERICANS
Rick Lyall’s STORM dominated the 14-boat 2009 J1/09 North Americans, which were sailed as part of the Chicago Yacht Club’s Verve Cup Regatta.    Welcome to UK-Halsey, City Island -- the original home of UK Sailmakers. The loft was founded by Charles and Charlotte Ulmer in 1946 as Ulmer Sails; their son Charles (Butch) Ulmer and Butch’s son-in-law, Kerry Klingler now own and operate the loft. This loft is a true family business with extensive ties to the Long Island Sound community.
    Whether you use your boat for cruising, daysailing, or racing -- on the Sound or across oceans, our staff will help you get great sails and service. We have decades of experience making sturdy Dacron cruising sails as well as performance cruising and high-tech racing Tape-Drive sails.
     For repairs, our service department prides itself in getting sails fixed the same week that you bring them during the summer months. We don’t want you losing precious weekends on the water.

  The City Island loft is the largest loft in in the New York metropolitan area and is equipped to handle any of your sailmaking needs. Besides new sails, the loft repairs, cleans and stores a few thousand sails. Each Fall and Winter and make arrangements to pick up and deliver sails throughout the greater New York City area.
